The project takes on the program of the planned construction on the northern fringes of Mauerpark and proposes an alternative on the publicly owned Helmuth Jahn Sportpark (Berlin Prenzlauer Berg). Currently unused surfaces become the ground for a new “Kiez” characterized by its open structure and a wide range of open spaces. The integration of sport functions, links between currently separated districts, and a subtle mix of semi-generic housing typologies are key features of the proposal. They support a more efficient and sustainable urbanism in the context of Berlin’s current housing crisis.
